Bank Holiday Patrols & Bass Nursery Areas

Although it was the early Bank Holiday of 6th May 2019, the work of D&S IFCA Enforcement Officers didn’t take a break. D&S IFCA planned and completed two separate patrols, with the first beginning at 05.30 hours and the second conducted in the afternoon. Both patrols were at sea in the new enforcement vessel DAVID ROWE. Focus was applied to the South East area of the District, from Brixham to Lyme Bay, with boardings and inspection work conducted by Officers.

The patrols included visits to the Bass Nursery Areas within the Teign and Exe Estuaries.  Both Bass Nursery Areas are now active and will remain so until the end of October 2019.

Although not a D&S IFCA Byelaw, and not introduced by D&S IFCA, we do support the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) enforcing this Domestic and EU legislation.

We are pleased to report that no offences were detected during the patrols.
