D&S IFCA are recruiting

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Devon and Severn Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority as an Enforcement Officer.  Based at the main Brixham office, the successful applicant will join a small, professional team of officers responsible for the management of marine fisheries resources and conservation within the Authority’s district. 

  • Salary based on 37 hours per week is £21,589 to £26,317
  • An additional 10% is paid for unsocial hours

All IFCOs are expected to crew the Authority’s vessels and previous sea going experience is desirable.  You must be physically capable of carrying out boardings and inspections at sea and be willing to work unsocial hours as required.  

Applicants should possess good IT, literacy, numeracy and communication skills as well as being able to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.  Regular training will be provided.

The post holder will become a warranted officer and will be expected to enforce fisheries and marine environmental legislation.  Previous experience in an enforcement role is desirable.

The interview will be comprised of two parts. 

All shortlisted candidates will be expected to undertake a short sea patrol on the Authority’s 7.8 metre RIB followed by an interview in the Authority’s offices in Brixham.
