One-year part-time appointment from 22nd April 2019 to cover Maternity Leave

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the small environmental management team of the Devon & Severn IFCA, based in Brixham. We are looking for a motivated, organised and effective communicator to undertake research and gather information to study the effects on the marine environment as well as the socio-economic value of the inshore fishery within the Devon & Severn IFCA’s area. 

Salary based on 37 hours per week is £21,589.  This role is part-time, working 22.5 hours per week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and therefore the salary is pro-rata. An additional 10% is paid for unsocial hours

Applicants must have a marine environment related degree or equivalent work experience within the marine environment.  Experience in delivering research projects, undertaking surveys and writing research reports is essential. 

The post holder will be expected to initiate and undertake research, investigations and monitoring programme at sea, in estuaries and along the coast to fulfil the Authority’s fisheries and environmental responsibilities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for helping with the evaluation and regulation of the inshore fishing industry in the Devon & Severn IFCA’s district and giving environmental advice to local and national groups, as well as educational presentations.

The successful candidate will be expected to travel within the IFCA’s district as well as attending meetings and conferences around the country.

Annual Leave will be pro-rota, based on the standard full-time employees leave of 24 days per year, and calculated annually.  Flexible working is required.
