Proposed ACTOR Scientific Platform Off Plymouth – Public Consultation Meeting

The University of Plymouth is holding a public consultation meeting on Wednesday 19th November 2025 at Brixham Laboratory, Brixham to discuss a proposed scientific offshore platform to be located south of Plymouth Sound.

The scientific offshore platform is part of the planned At-sea Capability Testing for Offshore Renewables (ACTOR) project, a collaboration between the University of Plymouth, the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult and Plymouth Marine Laboratory.

The platform is planned to be located south of Plymouth Sound and will make an important contribution to the development of ocean renewables. This includes understanding the potential impact of renewable infrastructure on marine life and the wider environment.

The meeting will be held on:

19th November 2025 from 15:00hrs – 16:45hrs

Brixham Laboratory, Freshwater Quarry, Brixham TQ5 8BA

There will be short talks about the project and the proposed locations for the scientific offshore platform, and the opportunity to ask questions. The project team will also be collecting feedback, so community members can share their views on the proposed location. This consultation will help the project team understand any possible impact on fishing or recreation.

D&S IFCA is not part of the project. However, D&S IFCA has assisted the project team in charting potential locations, which will be discussed at the meeting, and are aiding the project team by communicating this consultation event at which stakeholders will have the opportunity to engage.  A further event will take place in Plymouth and the opportunity to submit responses on-line will be circulated in due course.
