The Association of IFCAs has released their October edition of IFCA Insights.
IFCA Insights is designed to better connect and communicate the work carried out across England’s ten IFCAs. This edition begins by highlighting the AIFCA’s work to improve member recruitment across IFCA districts. The new animations, now launched, hope to increase understanding of the role of members and promote further the opportunities to contribute to local fisheries management.
The newsletter then delves into some exciting cross-IFCA collaborative programmes across our coastline, such as the Rays of Tope project with the University of Plymouth and the Tuna Trace project with Cefas. The newsletter also shares a number of new projects also being carried out that work directly with fishers to undertake research, or co-design byelaws through structured interviews.
This edition also features the AIFCA’s talk at the Shellfish Association of Great Britain’s Annual Conference on how IFCAs are preparing, adapting and responding to environmental change. The AIFCA is also very excited to welcome its new National Training Manager, Sam Dell, to the team, and a link is shared to AIFCA’s 2025-26 Annual Report showing progress made over the last year.
Next Edition
These newsletters will be released Quarterly, with the next edition in December 2026.
